Basse Dance is a court dance of the early renaissance, related to the Italian Bassa Danza. It doesn't have the rapid steps and leaps found in other dances of the same time. Basse dance lead to the pavane.

Probably the most important primary source for Basse Dances is Brussels MS 9085. There are also four listed in Arbeau's Orchesography.
