Kayles

Kayles is a game which involves throwing a stick at a line of pins. The game was played at least as early as the 14th century. The name derives from the French word quilles, meaning skittles. The number of skittles were variable (six or eight being common), but a larger king pin appears to have been standard.

Edward IV issued an edict against playing kayles in 1477.
