Diamond section

The term diamond section refers to the cross section of an object (usually a blade) that resembles a flattened version of the diamond from a deck of modern cards.

Diamond section blades are typically of this profile when they are intended for thrusting as the ridges give the blade strength should the blade begin to flex. Fullered blades lack this ridge and are more easily bent as a result.
