Wings (Armour)
Wings on armour are found on the poleyns and couters. They extend from these defences to aid in covering the crease of the arm of the knee which would otherwise be exposed. They might be decorated in different shapes and patterned.

In combat a wing refers to the forces on a flank. The term is at least as old as classical Rome where they used ala (Latin for wing).
