A waiver is a document which nominally states that the signer will not hold the sponsoring group responsible for any injury they sustain during an event. Although (in the USA at least) one cannot sign away one's right to sue, a signed waiver can be used as evidence that someone was not ignorant of potential risks and dangers.

The SCA requires waivers not only for all combat related activities, but also for event attendance in general (the site waiver).
