:We've hardly scratched the surface with heraldry, but we're doing better than wikipedia already. All the braiding and embroidery stuff Tiff and Jane of Stockton have done I doubt can be found on wikipedia and there are also Tobin's recipes. I think having an SCA focus is to recognise the strengths of the people who are here now, and the structure of what's already been done. To try and turn this into a non-SCAcentric site is going to take a lot of effort just editing back what is already here, including the pages on Kings, Queens, Kingdoms etc., not to mention the Pelican page and almost everything that links to those pages.

:Well, that's what I think, but it's not my wiki, and Tobin says that the wiki is really whatever the people working on it turn it into, so he doesn't consider it entirely his either. However, so that we're not working at cross purposes what does everybody else want it to be. I personally am more interested in seeing Cunnan being consistent than being SCAcentric. What do others think? Should we move this to Cunnan:Village Pump? Conrad Leviston 20:55, 2 Jul 2004 (EST)

By all means move this to the Cunnan:Village Pump. From my observance of the pages here, their design and their content, I like to agree with what is on the Main Page. I think of Cunnan as a resource for those interested in the medieval period, with a particular bent and extra information that is specific to the SCA but more stuff could be added that is specific to the NVG etc. For this reason, when I design/edit pages I like to only include information that is relevant to the period and Europe in period. I also like to be able to add content that helps explain the SCA and its terms, history and the way we play the game. But the medieval stuff gets top priority for me, so if there is an SCA aspect to the page, I like to include it as a subsection, not as the first thing you encounter on the page. For instance, the falconry page I wrote had medieval stuff first, then how modern falconry and the SCA can (or can't) interact. This is what I believe is the best design structure for Cunnan. Of course, not everyone is going to agree with me, or follow the same structure. Such is the way of Wiki pages. [shrugs] I can handle that.

And I do agree that we don't need screeds after screeds of information on a topic on a single page. Leave that to the references. I believe that Cunnan needs only give basic or interesting information on a topic or aspects of a topic. It need not be a textbook. - Cian Gillebhrath 23:29, 5 Jul 2004 (EST)
