Are you asking about [[pas d'armes]]? At present we are treating them in [[Cunnan]] as a [[Tournament style]]. Personally, in the [[SCA]] they are fought on a tourney field so they aren't [[war]]s. The match-ups are organised beforehand, so they aren't quite a normal all-in [[melee]]. They can be ''1 vs 1'', ''1 vs many'' or ''many vs many''. So I think that it is better to think of them being a style of tournament than a melee or a stand-alone category.

I am not quite sure what variations existed in [[period]].

Are you asking about pas d'armes? At present we are treating them in Cunnan as a Tournament style. Personally, in the SCA they are fought on a tourney field so they aren't wars. The match-ups are organised beforehand, so they aren't quite a normal all-in melee. They can be 1 vs 1, 1 vs many or many vs many. So I think that it is better to think of them being a style of tournament than a melee or a stand-alone category.
