OK, I shifted this page about a bit, but I am pretty sure now it is under the correct title. Des means "of the", so the "of" in "Canton of Des Forges" is superfluous. Local use seems to be "Canton Des Forges" as well.

* The question is whether it is correct [[French]] to capitalise the ''Des''. Once again, I suspect that it comes down to local usage, not actual [[period]] grammatical rules. After all, they didn't have automatic spelling or grammar checkers at the time, did they? - [[User:Cian|Cian Gillebhrath]]
