A saga is an prose tale that may be based on historical or legendary events written down between the 1200 and 1400 primary of Norse origin.

Many deal with the history of Iceland and while many must contain valuable information, they should be regarded as accurate histories due to the fact that many are recalling events hundreds of years before they were written down.

The term saga how now come to mean a number of other literary types including science fiction opera, tales of samurai and also Western fanstasy literature such as Lord of the Rings' and Homer's Odyssey.
