The Red Book of Hergest (Oxford, Jesus College, MS CXI = MS Welsh 1) or the Llyfr Coch Hergest, is one of the best known Welsh manuscripts being part of the Mabinogion. And in the mundane is the fundamental inspiration for the Red Book of the Halflings in Lord of the Rings.
