There are many groups that, alone or as part of a larger organisation, try to recreate the clothing, music and lifestyle of different periods. For the most part re-enactment only covers these periods "As they should have been", without events that aren't much fun, such as the Black Death.
Sometimes the term recreationist and re-enactor are used interchangably.
