Portugeuse is a Romance language from Portugal. Its earliest texts are dated from the 12th century with troubadours songs developing in the 13th century. The epic Os Lusiadas "The Luciads" by Luis de Camoes was published in 1572.

Modern Portugeuse is based on a dialect from Lisbon but there is also the Galician dialect in north-west Spain.
