The Non Member Surcharge or NMS is an additional charge (currently $3 US) added to the site fee for events which is paid only by those who are not card-carrying members of the SCA. The NMS goes directly to corporate and is the subject of some strong feelings both pro and con. It is an outgrowth of the pay to play issue that arose in the early 90s.
