The nagamaki (grass mowing sword) was a sword-like weapon of medieval Japan. It consisted of a katana or tachi-like blade on a hilt that was quite long. This hilt could easily be as twice as long as a regular hilt on a Japanese sword or longer.

Never a greatly popular weapon, it still enjoyed some use.
