Martin Luther (10 November 1483 – 18 February 1546) was the foremost figure of the Reformation in Europe and founded Lutheranism.

He was born in Eisleben to a miner.

In April 1523 he helped 12 nuns escape from a convent. He later married one of them, Katharina von Bora, on June 13, 1525.
