Mallow

Mallow (Malvaceae) is a genus of about thirty species of plants native to Europe, Asia and Africa. Its name is derived from the Old English malwe, meaning soft.

Common mallow (malva silvestris) is the best know form of mallow, and was used as a medicinal herb from Roman times. It is a perennial with pale purple flowers.
