First Course

  • Roast beef
  • Sauerkraut (from our own kitchen)
  • Greens with mustard seeds and bacon
  • nuts
  • apples
  • cheese
  • wholemeal wheaten bread and rye bread (from our own oven)
  • spiced mushrooms (for vegetarians)

Second Course

  • Chicken stew - with wine, broad beans, fresh coriander, and mint
  • roast carrots
  • frumenty
  • sausages
  • yeast-raised pancakes
  • fresh cheese drizzled wih honey
  • pears in mead with stewed dried cherries


This feast used ingredients mentioned in archeological sources, but the recipes are largely conjectural.
