A Katana is a Japanese sword. It is very long and thin with only one cutting edge. The handle may be bound with a fabric strip instead of wire. It is made by a swordsmith usually using the folding method, often many more times than European swords. Even so, since carbon is not added, only what's already there is in it, the steel won't be as good of quality. European swords are generally of better quality than katanas. Katanas are mundanely referred to as "ninja swords."
