The Hundred Years War was a series of battles that took place between 1337 and 1453. Although commonly seen as a war between France and England, it is more properly considered a war between the Plantagenets and the House of Valois over the throne of France. These battles were for the most part fought on what is now French soil, and ended with the Valois in control of all of France except for the area around Calais.
