Hilt

The hilt of a weapon is the section that is used to hold the item. The term is most frequently applied to kinves and swords.

Hilts are generally made of wood, [[antler] or bone and may have a leather covering. They may be shaped to better fit the hand and some may be carved for decorative purposes.
