Heliocentric refers to a model of the solar system where the Sun is at the centre of the solar system and the planets orbit this body.

Not a popular model during the Middle Ages as the church took the view of it contradicting their scriptures. The Vatican finally accepted this view in the late 20th century.

A modern parallel would be evolutionary theory.
