The Fourth Crusade is famous for all the wrong reasons. For instance,

  • In order to get ships from Venice, the crusaders had to do a little land-grabbing for the locals.
  • They allowed themselves to get involved in local politics again in the Eastern Roman Empire and ended up ransacking the empire's capital, Constantinople.
  • The crusade never even reached its target, the Middle East.
