A forge is the technical name for a smith's or armourer's workshop.

It will generally include a fire or furnace with bellows to increase the heat, a solid surface (probably smoothed stone) for beating hot metal, several anvils, for shaping hot metal, and a large container of water for the rapid cooling of metal.

In addition the craftsman will have his tools: hammers, to beat metal, tongs to draw it out, cutters and the like.
