The falchion is a single edged European sword having an amount of curve in the blade and designed to be used in one hand. The degree of curvature varied and the falchion's profile is could vary from something akin to a machete to a style similar to a sabre. The falchion is relatively blade heavy and is primarily a chopping or cutting weapon.

This sword is thought to have a lesser status than other swords, but was sometimes used by nobility. They are believed to have been made in great quantities and would have been a familiar sight on the battlefield up until the 16th century.
