Previously known as the 'Midlands' part of the then Shire of Lough Devnaree (which then covered all of Ireland). Following a large increase in membership in N. Ireland (2003), Lough Devnaree was spilt into two more distinct shires. The Shire of Glen Rathlin taking N. Ireland and the Isle of Man and the rest remained with Lough Devnaree. Shortly after that, the Shire of Eplaheimr also formed from the Midlands (Offaly, Laois & North Tipperary).
Activities are based around Shinrone in Co. Offaly. Shire members hail from almost all the surrounding counties.
