Charlemagne

Charlemagne was the French name of Carolus Magnus(742-814), King of the Franks. Son of Pepin. Charlemagne's new Carolingian dynasty supplanted the reigning Merovingians.

Charlemagne was later considered to be one of the Nine Worthies.
