The term Cadet is often used in the SCA to refer to a person who has formally entered into a student/teacher relationship with a member of the order of the White Scarf. The relationship may be considered as loosely analagous to that of Knight and Squire.

In some Kingdoms which have not signed the White Scarf treaty, the term is used for the same type of relationship between student fencers and members of that Kingdom's fencing order. This is the case in the East Kingdom for instance, with the Order of the Golden Rapier.
