The Bronze Age was the period after the discovery of how to work bronze but before the discovery of how to work iron. Most ancient European and Asian civilizations were in their Bronze Age when they began recording history. The ancient Egyptians were a Bronze Age culture when they built the Pyramids, for example.

The Bronze Age in Europe and Asia was followed by the Iron Age, the beginning of which roughly corresponded to the time of the ancient Greeks (c. 1200 B.C.E.).
