The Black Death was a plauge that hit Europe and other countries several time during period and at one point had reduced the population of eastern Europe by around a half.

Several possible reasons for the plauge were suggested at the time:

  • Jews poisoning the wells.
  • God punishing man.

While the real reasons include:

  • Poor sanitation
  • Fleas carrying the virus from host to host)
