The Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr is an SCA group that consists of most of the Milwaukee–Racine–Waukesha Combined Statistical Area (ceding certain parts to its northerly neighbors, the Shire of Lub Siochail) and extending west to include portions of Jefferson County, Wisconsin. It is in the Woodlands Region of the Kingdom of Northshield.
The group's registered name was originally Caer Anterth. Upon its elevation to Baronial status, the group assumed the name Caer Anterth Mawr. This is intended to be an attempt to indicate the elevated status of the group in the Welsh tongue. This would allow a consistent language usage rather than a mixed language usage, that is, Caer Anterth Mawr rather than the English-Welsh construct, the Barony of Caer Anterth. However, over the years, the two constructs have blended, and the group is generally referred to as the Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr. As of August 2006, the correct, registered name of this group is Barony of Caer Anterth-Mor. However, as mentioned, this name is not in general use.
