Barley

Barley (Hordeum vulgare) is a member of the grass family, and is an important cereal crop. Cultivated barley is descended from wild barley (Hordeum spontaneum) which can still be found in the Middle East.

Barley is sprouted and then dried to make malt, which is used in beer.
