A baldric is a belt-like accessory that goes from the wearer's shoulder to his opposite hip.

In the SCA, the baldric is sometimes marked with insignia to indicate that the person holds an office, is an authorised officer, is a member of a royal guard etc. The white baldric is the master of arms' equivalent to a knight's white belt.
