The Aberdeen Bestiary (Aberdeen University Library MS 24) is one of the best known bestiaries from the middle ages. The manuscript was started in the 12th century, but work finished on page 94r and was not begun again until about a century later. The first record of it is from 1542, when it appears in the inventory for the Old Library in Westminster Palace.

The Manuscript

The book is 302mm x 210mm and was never finally trimmed. It was written on vellum. It contains 104 pages, most of which are richly illustrated.
