Historical reenactment

An event for the purpose of recreating a historical event, most often a battle. In America, Civil War reenactors are the best known example of this. Reenactors have a tendency to look down on the SCA and indeed place the SCA into a category separate to reenactors, as our standards are rather more lax and our time period much broader.
Some reenactment groups also accept large time periods, but tend to focus on a narrower time frame for specific events rather than have all periods at once.
