I would like to further disambiguate this, so that we can have a section on...wait for it...dance from the middle east, specifically raqs, the period term for "Belly Dance".

And yes, we have period sources for not only images of dancers, but descriptions as well. You can see some of the data at my Overview of SCA period Middle Eastern Dance, and the Bibliography for annotated sources.

If you have any opinions on this approach, please don't hesitate to speak up.

  • That sounds great. I can't check your site at the moment (seems to be down today), but if it's the one i think it is, it was really interesting and well researched. I'd be proud to have you write something up, and I think that sort of information is very useful to help new people learn what the period versions of belly dance are. - Tiff

Wow! Didn't even notice that my stuff was already linked through from here... The site's back up, and even faster [insert geek talk here], so hopefully it should work like a charm from here on in. I'll read through the wiki editing stuff again today, and see if I can't start working pages out soon. Sukran/Thanks, everyone! ------asim 07:31, 28 Jan 2006 (CST)
