My understanding is that most period velvet (and other piled fabrics) was created by using a suplementary warp that was thrown over extra sticks, creatign loops that were cut. However I'm not sure enough on that to correct you. Thanks for the start - the hardest bit. Tiff 06:41, 24 Jan 2006 (CST)
