Original
Actually, the original version of this song is from The Two Queens of Bedford, a Musical Farce, or Comical Opera, by Thomas D'Urfey (1653-1723). The word "news" is actually "noose", which is also how Ed McCurdy sings it on the album "When Dalliance Was In Flower (And Maidens Lost Their Heads)" volume 2. -Anachronist 13:21, 22 February 2011 (EST)
