In [[heraldry]], if a [[field]] is strewn with many items of the same [[charge]] it is referred to as '''sem&#0233;'''.  This is treated as a field, not as a field with a number of charges on it.

There are several occasions where rather than saying '''sem&#0233; of charge''' we say something else.

* a sem&#0233; of [[cross crosslet]]s is called [[crusilly]]
* a sem&#0233; of [[goutte]]s is called goutty or goutt&#0233;
* a sem&#0233; of [[fleur de lis]] is called [[semy de lis]]
* a sem&#0233; of [[billet]]s is called [[billety]]

==Repeating field patterns==

Patterns based on the [[ordinary|ordinaries]] which repeat throughout the field are considered field divisions or [[line divisions]].
