A '''gonfalon''' or '''gonfannon''' is a type of triple-tailed [[flag]] that hangs down from a crosspiece. [[SCAdian]]s often erroneously call it a [[banner]].

When used as a [[heraldry|heraldic]] [[charge]], a gonfalon is displayed face-on with the lower half being divided into three parts, and the whole hanging from three rings.  It is correctly [[blazon]]ed by [[metal]] [[tincture]] or [[fur]] and can be described as "fringed" if there is trim of a different [[colour]].

[[Sir Bedivere]] of the [[Round Table]] was attributed the arms ''[[OR]], a gonfalon [[gules]] fringed [[argent]]''.
