A '''forge''' is the technical name for a [[blacksmith|smith]]'s or [[armourer]]'s [[workshop]].

It will generally include a fire or [[furnace]] with [[bellows]] to increase the heat, a solid surface (probably smoothed [[stone]]) for beating hot [[metal]], several [[anvil]]s, for shaping hot metal, and a large container of water for the rapid cooling of metal.

In addition the [[craftsman]] will have his tools: [[hammer]]s, to beat metal, [[tongs]] to draw it out, cutters and the like.
