Set

Set is a figure often done in English Country Dances and Measures. It consists of two singles, one to each side, and is typically done while facing another dancer; usually both dancers do it simultaneously. It is not known for sure whether the sets in early Playford dances were always done directly to the sides, or whether they might have been done obliquely.

N. B. In the historical dance context, one single never amounts to a set. "Set" is exclusively the name for a sequence of two singles.
