Period Recipe

From the Forme of Cury.

RAPE. XX.IIII. III.

Notes

  • Rape. A dissyllable, as appears from Rapey in the Contents. Rapy, Ms. Ed. No. 49. Rapee, ibid. II. 28.

Modern Recipe

Ingredients

Method

  1. Cover the fruit with the wine and cook until soft.
  2. Mash (I used the bar mix) into a fine paste.
  3. Add the spices. Cook until thickens. If not quite thick enough, add the rice flour and a pinch of salt if necessary. Didn't add colouring (saunders = sandalwood).

Nice on toast or as an accompanyment to meats.

Gwir verch Madog.
