The concept of a God and the ways in which his or her wishes were to be followed were important concepts in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. While the Christian god was the primary one in Europe at this time, other period religions followed alternate gods or goddesses. Sometimes they followed the same god but had alternate views on what entailed that deity. Some religions actually believed in multiple gods.
