The '''Barony of Small Gray Bear''' is the [[SCA]] [[groups|group]] that covers the Greater Little Rock Metropolitan area and most points south in Arkansas. Its current leaders are [[Thegn]] Hrothgar and [[Baronessa]] Briana. Small Gray Bear's largest [[event]] is the [[War of the Diamonds]], also called Diamond Wars. It also holds at least two other events each year, [[Candlelight Camp]] and [[Barbearian Brawl]].

Small Gray Bear became a [[Barony]] in February 1993. It is part of the [[Kingdom]] of [[Gleann Abhann]].

Small Gray Bear has several awards for long service. For fighters, there is the [[Sword of Orion]]. For the arts & sciences, the [[Morningstar]] is given out. And the [[Bear's Paw]] is awarded to those who excell in service. Additionally, Small Gray Bear's Baron and Baronessa can give the [[Order]] of the [[Diamond Bear]] to members who have served the group long and well. The [[Diamond Bear]] carries [[precedence]] in the [[Kingdom]] of [[Gleann Abhann]].

Gulf Wars

'''Gulf Wars''' is a week long [[SCA]] [[war]] traditionally between the [[Kingdom of Ansteorra]] and [[Kingdom of Trimaris]]. It takes place at Kings Arrow Ranch in Lumberton, Mississippi, and is hosted by the Kingdom of [[Gleann Abhann]].

[[heavy fighting|Heavy Weapons]], [[Rapier]] ( most if not all battles are fought with [[epee]]), [[Archery]], [[Equestrian]], [[Coursing]], [[Arts and Sciences|Art/Sci]] and [[Live Weapon]]s are all counted for war points; [[Youth Combat]] is also available, but is not currently a war point.

Attendance is currently three-to-four thousand, and come from almost every kingdom of the [[Known World]]. Classes are also available, as well as an Artisan's Row ( a note: Gulf Wars has a lot of [[Middle East]]ern Classes available, since there is a Middle Eastern Encampment offering classes ).

In [[2005]] ( GW 14 ), there was an announcement that the GW 15 would be a four-[[kingdom]] war, as Gleann Abhann would shortly become a kingdom of it's own right. At the end of each Gulf Wars Knowne World Court, the four kingdoms ( [[Ansteorra]], [[Trimaris]], [[Meridies]], and [[Gleann Abhann]] ) would roll dice, and the highest rolling and lowest rolling kingdoms would be allied against the other two kingdoms. Gleann Abhann will continue to host.

The outcome of the roll resulted in the pairing of Ansteorra and Trimaris against Meridies and Gleann Abhann.

'''Households''' are groups within the [[SCA]], usually based around an interest in certain areas of SCA endeavour, or friendship groups (or both!). Sometimes a [[peer]] will form a household that includes his/her [[apprentice]]s/[[protege]]s/[[squire]]s. Unlike other [[groups]], such as a [[barony]], Households aren't based on geography (although members of a household may be from a particular geographical area), they are not official [[groups]] of the [[Society]], and any "[[membership|membership requirements]]" of a household are at the discretion of the household. A household cannot hold official meetings or [[events]], but they are more than welcome to run events on behalf of the official group. They may include or exclude anybody they like, whereas an official group cannot do this.

They can be a great support network, and often the activities of the household will extend beyond SCA. Another way to look at it is that a household is your "family" and the group the [[village]]/[[hamlet]] that you live in.

You do not have to be a part of any household, and just because someone is a part of a particular household does not mean that you can't hang out with them. You can even start your own household if you want to!

Examples of households in and around [[Stormhold]] include [[House Reverie]] (based around Sir [[Antoine le Reveur]] and his squires), House [[Woodrose]] (mainly an [[Arts and Sciences]] household of old broken down hacks encumbered by offspring with a few who pretend to fight once in a while when the injuries and venerability allow), Unnamed (another mostly A&S household) and [[the Axemen]] (a fighting household that is mostly demographically based around younger members with a few old, wise heads attempting to control the chaos).
