Arbeau says variously that the pavane was usually danced before a [[basse dance]], and that after the pavane one customarily dances the [[galliard]]. It is a slow dance suitable for processions, and [[Arbeau]] states that it was used when a noble lady "is taken to Holy Church to be married, or when they lead a procession of the chaplains, masters and brethren of some noble confraternity."

The pavane is danced by a lord and lady holding hands. '''Silk''' is the finely [[woven]] [[thread]] of the '[[silk worm]]' - a caterpillar (''Bombyx mori'' is the most common species, but there are others) that produces silk while building its cocoon in preparation for pupation.

Silk clothing was worn during the medieval period but not next to the skin as it would be soiled too readily. Instead it was worn over [[wool]]en clothing.

The thread is taken from the cocoon before the moth fully passes through the chrysalis phase. This process kills the moth, so obviously not every chrysalis is taken.

The colour of the silk depends on what the caterpillars were fed. They require green leaves, and are generally fed on [[mulberry]] leaves which give a very pale blonde or white, depending on species. If the diet is supplemented with rose petals, the thread can come out with a pink tinge.

High-quality silk is reeled rather than [[spun]]; the individual fibers are lifted out of a hot water bath to form threads. Generally only the waste silk from broken cocoons is spun.

'''House Lightning Mist''' is an [[SCA]] [[household]] based in the Northern Region of the [[Kingdom of Ansteorra]], with Septs in the [[Kingdom]]s of [[Gleann Abhann]] and [[Caid]].

Formed at the Ansteorran [[Fall Crown]] in [[A.S. XXXII]] by Ld. Donecan MacDubhgal of Loch Alsh and Captain Talon DeWiley. While nursing the last known bottle of Gnome's Milk and a fifth of Southern Comfort, they reminisced about times spent in the lost [[Shire of Morrows Keep]] and the comraderie and fun had during those days of yore. Deciding to rekindle those feelings, rather than lament them, Donecan and Talon decided to form a household. And thus did House Lightning Mist begin.

Within a year or so Lightning Mist grew to 20+ members, with Lascivia Greymouse joining Donecan and Talon as Triumvirs or co-leaders of the House. Then Talon was lost in a battle between two [[dragon]]s in [[A.S. XXXIV]]. His brother, Scar DeWiley, then took up Talon's office in the Triumvirate.

House membership gradually increased to around 35 members and initiates by the beginning of [[A.S. XLII]], with about 25 being regularly active in the SCA. The House has two small Septs, one in Gleann Abhann and one in Caid.

The '''Kingdom of Lochac''' comprises all [[SCA]] [[groups]] in [[Australia]] and [[New Zealand]].

When the SCA groups in a region fulfill [[kingdom|certain criteria]] (as specified by [[Corpora]]), they can become a [[kingdom]], provided sufficient [[member]]s wish to do so. This occurred in [[Australia]] in July [[2002]]. The New Zealand groups joined the new kingdom at the Lochac [[May Crown tourney (Lochac)|May Crown]], [[2003]].

The Australian groups were previously the [[Principality]] of Lochac, part of the [[Kingdom of the West]]. The New Zealand groups were formerly part of the [[Kingdom of Caid]].

4. Use "Crown Principality" status to recognize regional development. Where an area is obviously suitable for eventual Principality status, a Kingdom can reward and encourage the trend by declaring the area to be a Crown Principality. A Crown Principality is exactly and only a region with a fancy name and a line in the Coronation ceremony—the King and Queen also become Prince and Princess of the psuedo-Principality when they assume the thrones. It has no laws but the Kingdom laws. Its officers are regional deputies to the Kingdom officers. However, the name lends it extra emotional reality. The Kingdom can allow it have a champion and to develop some usages of its own, and these steps will smooth the eventual transition.

5. All the procedures for creating a Crown Principality are under Kingdom control, as long as the Kingdom doesn't attempt to hand over functions reserved to the royalty or officers of SCA Principalities. Thus, it is essentially a semi-formal declaration of intent to work toward [[Principality]] status by a collection of branches that wish to form a principality, but which do not meet one or more of the requirements. Since it is not a group designation recognized by the SCA, it has no laws, and no formal officers or ceremonial head.

As an administrative unit, it may be compared to a [[region]] such as those found in the [[East Kingdom]].

However, Kingdom Law and Custom may depute certain powers of the Crown to sub-groups. '''Krae Glas''' is an [[SCA]] [[group]] in the [[Kingdom of Lochac]] and encompases the [[College of St Monica]]. It is located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, [[Australia]] . The current [[seneschal]] is [[Lord]] Yves de Lyle.

Krae Glas was founded as a [[canton]] of the [[Barony of Stormhold]] in [[A.S. XXIX]] by former members of St Monica's. The name is [[Breton]] for "Blue Strand", a reference to the Mornington Peninsula which is within the group.

Krae Glas became a [[Shire]] on January 25th [[A.S. XXXVIII]], and in [[A.S. XLIV]] it was announced that the group would advance to [[barony]] status. They [[investiture|invested]] their first [[Baron]] and [[Baroness]] on the 27th of August [[A.S. XLV]].

==Heraldry==

The [[device]] is ''[[or]], on a [[bend]] [[azure]] three [[laurel wreath]]s [[pale]]wise or'', which is based on the infamous Scrope [[heraldry]], ''[[Azure]] a [[bend]] [[or]]''. As there is no charge other than the laurel wreaths on the device, a [[dolphin]] [[hauriant]] azure was used as an unofficial [[badge]], although it conflicted with the [[dauphin]] of [[France]]. There is currently a proposition of submitting "a dolphin hauriant azure, with a bend or" as the populace badge.

The Krae Glas Herald has the title "Sens de Fin" herald, which roughly translates as "Sense of Purpose Herald."
