Previously known as the 'Midlands' part of the then [[Shire of Lough Devnaree]] (which then covered all of Ireland). Following a large increase in membership in N.Ireland ([[2003]]), Lough Devnaree was spilt into two more distinct shires. The [[Shire of Glen Rathlin]] taking N.Ireland and the Isle of Man and the rest remained with Lough Devnaree. Shortly after that the Shire of Eplaheimr also formed from the Midlands (Offaly, Laois & North Tipperary).<br />
