&lt;br /&gt;
Children learnt their ABC in a similar way to modern children (A is for....). See [[Marie de France]]&#039;s [[fable]]s for an example of this.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Children could also be sent to monastaries where they would learn to read the Vulgate (the Latin Bible), to write, to sing, and about the the scriptures and the Church&#039;s teaching. &lt;br /&gt;
