Krae Glas is located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, encompassing the College of St Monica.

It was founded in Anno Societatus 29 by former members of St Monica's. The current seneschal is Lady Emma de Lastene. The Shire of Krae Glas also boasts 29 sustaining members, 4 more than is necessary for a group to become a barony. However as Krae Glas only became a Shire on January 25th A.S. XXXVIII, it is unlikely that they will move onto Barony stage for a year or so.

Period Manuscripts
In period many manuscripts were produced on vellum or parchment. Their production stopped, for the large part, with the invention of the Printing Press.

Manuscripts in the SCA
The production of Manuscripts is widely practiced in the SCA with many people devoting a lot of time to the production of elaborate Illuminations.

Famous Manuscripts
Some famous manuscripts include:
* Forme of Cury
* The Book of Kells
* The Hours of the Duke of Anjou

Online Manuscripts
A great many medieval manuscripts are now being digitised and are available in varous places across the internet (usuall museums and libraries). Some manuscripts available in this way are or are available at:

Hose are a period item of clothing used for keeping the legs warm. Often made out of a linen or wool.
There are some modern hose-like items that can be worn, and look fairly close to period hose.

Hose were bias cut, so if patterned, diagonal stripes and diagonal check or plaids would be most common. Sometimes hose had leather soles sewn on to them, so you didn't have to wear shoes. (you can do this to modern socks too). Various devices including garters and attachment to a belt were used to stop hose falling down.

You can also make woolen scoggers, which are period arm warmers! (Ask Mistress Margie of Glenmore about these)
