The term LARP is only a recent advent to australian live roleplaying. The term LRP was well in use in Victoria ( circa 1990 Shadow League LRP) before Whitewolf and such roleplaying companies produced "LARP" versions of their table top/freeform games. Its has also been imported from overseas as a term, as US and British clubs seem to term it 'LARP' as opposed to 'LRP'

[[Recreationist]]s and [[Reenactor]]s tend not to refer to their activities as roleplaying, preferring re-creation or re-enactment. The main distinction is that there is no moderator or game master in these types of groups and no overall scenario or plot.
