Clan Blue Feather is a large open household within the SCA dedicated to education and research on homosexuality in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and to teach other members of the Society about homosexuality in the Current Middle Ages.

The Clan also exists as a social organization, to facilitate interaction among the members of the SCA, especially those who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual.

The registered badge of the Clan is Argent, a feather azure. By custom and tradition, LGBT members of the Clan wear a badge with a dark blue feather, while straight family, friends and supporters wear a light blue feather. Simply wearing a blue-dyed feather IS NOT an identifying mark.

The Clan has a Royally chartered Guild in the East Kingdom.
Great Western War (or GWW) is an annual SCA war held in the Kingdom of Caid in the Barony of Dreiburgen during early October.

Depending on the year's attendance, it is probably the fourth largest war in the SCA, following Pennsic War, Estrella War, and Gulf Wars.

GWW does not have set sides, but instead divides the Royal Army of Caid with the foreign guests to make sure the sides are even.
This is a place to ask questions about medieval re-enactment and the SCA, especially for people who are new. We know how confusing things are at first, so please don't be shy to ask. Anything that gets asked frequently will end up on our new people guide.

So type your question here:
*Why aren't there many questions here?
**Well here's one. You need to ask the question. Any question. Don't worry about trying to format it nicely, as we'll come along later and sort that for you. Just go to edit on the top of the page, click on it and you'll be able to add your question.
Live roleplaying is really just another way of describing an impromptu and scriptless form of acting. Each player has a character or role and they must play out how this person would repond in certain environments and conversations. A defining feature of roleplaying is the existence of a scenario of some kind which the players or participants must address. There are various areas that require live roleplaying:
* Live Roleplaying - generally referred to as "LARP", "LRP" or "freeform roleplaying" (Australia). Various gaming systems have rules that require the players to move about in order to achieve objectives and gather information. Combat is simulated through non-physical means. More information about these sorts of games can be found at the LARPA Homepage.
** Workplace training - A variation of live roleplaying used in a business situation. Employees are given fictional positions and roles and presented with various scenarios to see how they would respond.
* Live Action Roleplaying - also (confusingly) referred to as "LARP" or "LRP". These involve combat using latex or boffer style weapons. They generally also involve simulated spells. In England the number of LARPer's outnumbers the SCA, but in Australia the reverse is true. There is some cross-over of membership between these groups at times.

Recreationists and Reenactors tend not to refer to their activities as roleplaying, preferring re-creation or re-enactment. The main distinction is that there is no moderator or game master in these types of groups and no overall scenario or plot.
The suite of mixed branles, is a suite of five dances from Orchesography. These dances were not presented as a suite in the source, but are sometimes done as a suite to take the place of suites referred to in Orchesography where some of the tunes and choreographies are not given. In Lochac the are sometime referred to as The Cut Branles. The suite does not require the dancers to be paired off, and so may be danced with any number of people.
